Cheap lift or real deal? Tire Size?

First off, how easy is it to do the CHEAP lift, with like shackles or something?
Second, if I do this lift, what size tires can I fit?

OR

Should I just go out and buy 4" suspension lift and
get rid of the terrible ride the jeep has stock?

Go with a real lift kit and replace those worn out leaf springs. Shackles will just make your steering worse and lead to more wander. Stay away from Rancho and ProComp springs, way too stiff.

Terrible ride stock?? How about a TJ?? Heeehehehehehee

Shackle lifts stink, a one inch body lift isn't bad though. But usually lifts are cheaper for 4 inch VS 2.5's. Check out BDS, Mind you I have only 20 miles on my lift so far, but it is damn nice. I wouldn't have believed it until the guys here told me of the YJ lifts they had and loved. So far it is great.

As long as you keep your shackle lift to one inch or less you will experience no effects, at least none that you will notice. Get the one inch body lift, MORE makes a real good kit. Take Bountys advice and do not get rancho springs, they ride soooo stiff, but somehow flex well. The RE standard 4inch kit is a good lift. I put a one inch shackle lift on my girlfriends yj, and took out the rear track bar and it flexes as well as my YJ with an aftermarket lift, so if your just looking to get by, go with the shackles on a temp. basis, but beware you will lose clearance when approaching an obstacle.

headers and manifolds?

I just got the 4"RE standard and it rides way smoother than my stock springs did...definately a good kit

I think I will just fork over the bucks for some new suspension. I want to be able to fit 33's on
the truck anyway.

Thanks alot!

Good Advice! I started with the shackles. Any substantial lift height just plain $uck$ for steering/handling. BDS has a sweet price on their CJ lifts. There's a member named ecor on this site who sell them, try sending him a PM! Glad to see you like yours, BakedAlaskan. Mine has the "bounce" settled out of it now and it really rides great. It's a hoss offroad, too!

I have a 2 1/2 inch on my renegade. I am running 32". My neighbor has a 4" and is running 33" (his is a cj7). I am not sure about drive shaft angles with a 4 inch so I am going to get the 2.5 and stick with 32" tires. (when I get some more money)
