Can I install an adjustible seat in my 61 CJ5?

Hello all

I have always wanted an old jeep, so I just bought a 61 CJ5. I am not a mechanic, but am willing to learn, and am very new so I don't know any terminology. I love it and had some questions...

1. I would like an adjustible seat because I just don't have as much room as I would like in the drivers seat. The wheel well is right up against the front seat, so I thought maybe I could cut the wheel well back 3 inches and just raise the body 2 or 3 inches so the modification wouldn't interfere. Has anyone else heard of any modifications that worked to give the driver more room?

2. Can I install power steering on my model? Where would I get a kit?

3. The guy I bought the jeep from warned that the steering would shake uncontrollably because the stabalizer was not fastened tight. He showed me that he had used a wood block as a spacer to put the stabalizer (looked like shock absorber) in the right place for the steering bar it fastened to. It was clamped on the axle with a U bolt and the block pushed the stabalizer out about 3 inches from the axle. Well, the block is now gone and the steering occasionally shakes uncontrollably (dangerously). I hope that makes sense. Did he buy the wrong stabalizer or was it just never installed correctly?

4. Can I install seatbelts? Where would I find them?

Thanks so much for your help! I am excited to get started![addsig]
