california laws?

hey,i live in ca and wasgoing to be putting on led tail lamps,i was wondering if any one in ca new about the laws on license plate lighting,do you have to have it lit up or wat ?i was thinking of relocating it on the under side of my rear rack!!!

Pretty sure you have to light the plate in all the states. Not a big problem just buy a plate lite and mount it over the plate and boda~bing your all nice and leagle. No worries! tug :wink:

I'm in CA also, and ran into the same problem when i put my corner guards/ custom tail lights on. I mounted my liscense plate on my rack, (no lights) and have never had any problems. A cop once asked me about it, but he didnt really care.

thank god for texas, don't need anything like that here actually you don't need much of anything here, as long as you jeep runs you're golden

Well actually, in Texas, you can no longer use the plate holders (the ones that border the plate) if they cover any part of the lettering on the plate e.g. the word TEXAS over the plate. A friend of mine got puller over twice in the same night by different cops giving her a written warning about getting that plate holder off her plate. I hope I am being clear about this. We are talking about the plate holders that most cars get at whatever dealership they are sold from. Weird law, totally uncharacteristic of Texas, but oh well.-Al

Hrm, that must be a new one, haven't heard of that.....I got one on my plate, but I think I will wait until they pull me over
