body lift changes

When installing a body lift what has to be done to the steering column and the shifter linkage. This is a 85 cj7 with a automatic trany. And are there other things that will be affected. I am thinking of going up a little higher but nothing to radical. Thanks for any advice.

Body lifts are not the best way to lift. small body lifts are not bad but shouldn't exceed 2" because of the long bolts holding the body to frame. THEY SHIFT and could snap. Your steering shaft going from the fire wall to the steering box should have a pin through it about half way down to the box. with the removal of that pin, your shaft can extend or collapse, that may give you what you need. The ujoint at each end of the column will allow you to lift quite a bit without extending the shaft.

Thank you for that info. The body spacers right now are 1'' so I think I will leave it as is.

You shouldn't have any problems running a 1" bodly lift. You shouldn't have to extend anything!! just lift the body some and install the spacers. Good luck

Im in the proses of doing it now. I have had to cut access holes to get to rust frozen bolts when it all goes back together I will be applying anti seize to all bolts. If they had used it in the first place I would not be having to do all this work. The reason for doing this in the first place is I have to shift the body to line it up.

Your transfer case linkage should be okay if it's all connected to the transfer case and nothing else.

Steering linkage will be okay with a small body lift. Largest area of concern will be fan shroud clearance at the fan. You can notch the bottom of the shroud or redrill the mounting holes and move the shroud down to maintain alignment with the fan.
