Ball Joint R&R

I am in the process of putting upper and lower ball joints on my wifes jeep. 75 cj5.

As I was pressing out the upper ball joint, the bottom blew out! So basically the O.D. of the ball joint is still in the steering knuckle, while the ball and socket sets on the bench!

Any ideas on how to get the rest of the ball joint out? Or am I better off getting another steering knuckle.

The cup should press out with a balljoint press I would think.

Yea I thought so too, after all that is what I was using. I even heated it up good.

Have u tried an air chisel?

Try to grind the wall of the ball joint housing from the inside like your going to split it in half. Avoid grinding all the way through the housing, just make it thin enough where you can collapse it in half sections. Chisel half of it off and then the other half.
