Another tire question!

i think your jeep's rim is 15x8 and i know people who have run a 12.5 tire on em. the tire will bulge out from the rim quite a bit tho.... i wouldnt recommend such a wide tire on a narrow rim, go for an offset 15x10 rim if you are going over 12.5 in tire width.

are they?? i always thought they were 15x8 but i tend to be wrong when it comes to these thing

Depends on which Wheel package she got. the Ecco Rims are 15X7 the Stock Wagon wheels are 15x7. The Sport comes with Canyon upgrades which are 15x8 and the Rubicon is also 15X8. So, If you have a Sport+ then you will have 15X8 but the Wrangler X and below are 15X7.

hmm...the Jeep's defintally an X, but it has the wheel package, or does it? I'm not really sure... I suppose I could look at the window sticker if I could find it...it they are 15x8 that will save me on buying new wheels..

I actually answered my own question...well I asked every tire guy in my area and they all gave me a different answer. Finally I got enough of 1 answer and figured I can't put the tires I want on my wheels. I'v gots to buy new wheels.

Hi-Ya Laura,

Here is a generic table listing recommended wheel width to tire width.

As you can see, there is a good deal of overlap. The overlap is possibly why you received so many different answers from the tire guys.

Tire manufactures also have differing opinions regarding this question. The manufacturer of the tires you are going to buy should provide a table similar to that shown above. That table would be the one to reference.

There are wheel-to-tire sizing tables available, similar to the one above, for all of the tire sizing systems.

I run 32x11.50x15 on stock aluminum wheels. No problems, no complaints.

Some manufacturers offer a 33x10.50x15, which would fit a stock 15x7 rim and not stick out past your flares. Something to consider.

There are several jeepers in my 4x4 club here that run 33x12.50 on a 7" wide rim. They get extra bulge, but haven't lost a bead yet. If you decide to go that wide on a narrow rim, you've got to be disciplined to checking tire pressure, tire wear, and rotate them every 3K-5K miles. I just put my lift on last week and am getting new tires tomorrow. I have the TJ grizzly wheels on my YJ which are 15x7 and I'm going with the BFG 33x10.50 MTs. They will be skinny, but for my 4cyl, I'll not lose as much power as I would with the 12" wide.

ps. The rubicon comes with a 16x8 rim. yes, a 16" rim.

So you have an X. Does it have a Full sized Spare and the purdy metalic gray Rims or the ones that just look like a Wagon wheel.

You can get Rims pro pretty cheap. Depending on what you are looking for.

Hey Laura!

Where did you get your "Wicked Good" Price on the BFG MTs? I am also getting 32" BFG's but am shopping for the best price, thanks

town fair tire, but I had to flirt with the guy...girl advantages! i got 5 32's for $130, mount, balance, front end alignment...i forget what other charges there are...but there were some other charges

well I mean, I thought it was a great price...

Cool Thanks! That IS a great price. I was looking to buy on-line but with shipping and all I think I am better off to go local and have them installed and aligned correctly too. I'll check out the town fair tire in Plymouth. Can't wait till spring...

I know how you feel about all the different answers you got. I have the opposite problem, my wheels are apparently too big for the tires that are on them. The guy I bought it from had 31 10.5 r15's on 15 x 10 outlaw II's. No one around here could tell me what Inspector Gadget did, they had no clue! So now I am trying to decided on whether to sell my 15 x 10's and get 15 x 8's or buy all new tires that fit. Either way it's not going to be cheap!
