Another question over YJ Soft top channels

Yes I have a 1995 YJ Soft Top and it finally happened and now I have water leaking through the channel on the window. I know many out there have all done their own thing with it and I just wanted to specify my issue and get your thoughts.

Simply put I don't have a rivet gun, I doubt I will ever want to put a hard top on her and I am trying to spend as little as possible but not so much that I put a temporary ban-aide on it.

Should I put the numerious of reinforcement kit's out there on or should I just buy a rivet gun and rivet the channel on forever?

where is it leaking? can you just put some type of gasket under or behind the channel? i have never had a leak issue is why i ask

A few areas because the wind has finally pulled the screws out some. I put some larger ones in at the moment but I know it won't last. I'm feeling like just getting a rivet gun placing rivets.

if your not ever going to get a hard top, do it. no reason not to but use some strong rivets or some hy-locs or huc-locs or something seriously strong so it doesn't deform and pull out again

Keep on mind that you can always drill out the rivets.
I just bought a used winchield frame that had holes everywhere.
I am assuming that the previous owner was a rivet nut!
