Alternator woes...

Well i've known it's been coming for a while but i think my alternator has finally died on me. I'll be installing a new one right after i get my lift on(in the meantime i'm glad my brother has a truck) and i'd like to upgrade. I'm running a fairly powerful amp and i'd like to go bigger eventually and i want at least 4 offroad lights prob at 100 watts each. Also i think running it knowing it's been bad for as long as i have has damaged my battery so looks like i'll prob be ending up replacing that too. What would ya'll recommend? Optima yellow top? I can't believe this happened when i'm a week away from ordering my lift...this sucks:evil:

Find a 136A alternator from a late 90's Dodge fullsize truck or van, it's the NipponDenso part number 56027913 and is almost twice the amperage of the stock 2.5L alternator. Swap over the plastic boot on the back, and it's a bolt on. Swapping the pulley is optional, but the 136A often has an extra groove.

Haven't posted in a while cause i've been so mad at my jeep for breakin right as i was about to order my lift. Dropped a 90amp alternator in(much cheaper than the dodge truck one) and it has a lifetime warranty on it so i guess it was a decent upgrade. My jeep is a whole new animal now. Gas mileage has shot higher than it was before. The engine is quieter. My system sounds cleaner. The engine runs smoother. I think my jeep just wasn't gettin enough power to the fuel pump and spark plugs to run efficiently. I'm glad i have her fixed but still mad i have to wait yet another 2 weeks for something else to break and make me wait another 2 weeks after that and so on. I'm never gonna get this lift :(

yea... and the old alt was probably draggin on the whole system robbing power and mileage ... besides... breakin and fixin is all part of the whole Jeep experience... its a jeep thing right!?!?!?! keep the faith!

Interested in a junk yard alternator upgrade, any suggestions? Thinking about bunch of extra lights in the future.

That's what this was...

Which motor doyou have, the 2.5 or the 4.2?

I got a 130 or 140 dont remember from motorcity alternators for arount $120 with a life time warranty. They have great customer service as well. My jeep did not like the one wire hook up style it came with and blew the alternator twice in a month. They took it back both times and converted it to run with a standard hook up free of charge. 8 months later and no problems.
