Aftermarket Shifter?

I have installed a 2" body lift and a 3" suspension lift on my 95 YJ. As a result of the body lift i lost 2 inches on my shifter to the floor and 2" on my xfer lowering kit. So both of my shifters are down about 4 inches. I dont care so much about the xfer case shifter but the gear shifter is a little uncomfortable. Does anyone make an extended shifter to compensate for lifts?

Not a bid deal, I still have all my gears, just would like it to back up to stock height....

You'll probably have to make your own threaded extension, never seen one for sale. Your throw distance will increase dramatically with the extra length, and will probably hit the dash and/or console.

You shouldn't have had to lower the transfer case more than 1" with a 3" lift, how much is yours? You may need to go to a 1" body lift if you don't like the shifter setup, it's a more common amount of BL.

The xfer lowering case was I think maybe 1 or 1.5 inches now that I think about it. I would rather install it and not tear up my u joints. I was digging around my parts box earlier today and found a 2 inch extension for my shifter that came with my body lift. dont see why I cant cut the shifter below the curve in the upper section and weld it in. Makes it 2 inches taller and that would be perfect!! what do you think?

Sure you can, but why would the kit come with a weld-in extension?

I think it'd be better to find a 2" piece of solid rod and weld a threaded tube to the end that would attach to the top of the shifter. Then cut threads into the top of the rod that match the top of the shifter. 2" extension that is easily removed if need be.

I've got a 1" body lift on my '95 so the shifter deal is hardly noticable, and no transfer case drop. My 'ole 88 YJ had the TC drop and the 1" BL, and it was a little more noticable but livable. I can sympathize with your dislike with that much drop in the shifters.

Consider cutting the fenders and/or installing TJ flares if you need extra tire clearance. It will keep your center of gravity lower, which is a good thing.
