ABS Modules, is there really a difference?

I've got a Kelsey Hayes ABS module on my 'other' rig and I'm told by the wrecking yard that this is one of only two years this one was used. I understand differing models of vehicles can make a difference but when I've looked at rigs only one year different they look identical, save for the two letter code on the top label that's often missing on EBay items. What I mean is if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck... is it still a duck?

How much are the modules on ebay? If they are cheap then I'd be tempted to roll the dice.

Moreover I'd be tempted to take a chance on one from the local wrecking yard, then don't have to wait for shipping if I'm dissapointed. Not that I'm adverse to do the soldering repairs on one.

I got this one from a same year "compatible" by the crossover book, but unlike the youtube videos I've seen this one has no mounting screws. How best to 'pop the top' on this bugger?

I think this is the ground wire, but I could be wrong;

I found a slightly compromised connection

at what may possibly be the ground. I cut the line and soldered an extension to the ground bus bar, but it made no difference.

I ran the ground to this bus bar on the right fender;
