A little driveline vibe ?

just put on my lift and I noticed a tiny bit of what i think is front driveline vibration. It very minimal, noticed in first gear while accelerating from a stop. I can adjust my new front lower control arms, but How can you tell if thier in the right spot?

Sounds to me like you have a steep driveshaft angle. You should get an SYE for a lift of 4 inches or more.Or a transfercase drop would help.

starting problems, help!

Do the vibes only happen in 1st gear? Do they ever show back up... like at different speeds? If it's only happening in first gear when takin off from a stop, it might not be you drive shaft. It could be loose motor mounts. The torque of the engine going from a standstill to forward motion can cause the drivetrain to shift if your mounts aren't snug. I'd check those motor mounts... of course, you have a TJ and they shouldn't be worn yet.

I have a transfercase drop. My rear driveline is not the problem, it sounds like its comming from the front. Yes its only in first gear from a stop. Ill check out the motor mounts, thanks newman

Are you sure that the vibration that you feel in the front is not just the claws. Most people talk about feeling the lugs on the claws at low speed and on take off. Also did you get your alignment done yet.

I just installed a 4" superlift and my transmission mounts are shakin like a mutha, espicially in first. Usually around 1250 rpm's. When I get goin though, it's ok. You can ride these mounts out for a while. But eventually you and I will need new ones.

yeah, i got my alighnment done, and I notice the claws, its a different vibration, deffinatly from the front. It sounds just like just what dick's tawken about, right around 1250 or so. where are transmission mounts, and how difficult are they to change?

hey dick, Did you bend the bumpstops back, like the superlift directions suggested?

The bump stops were a B!0tch indeed. We had all kinds of trouble bending them things. They don't need to go much, just a lil bend. I had the help of a very good mechanic friend of mine who cranked it out in about 7hrs with a hydro lift and air tools. He said the mounts are gonna need replacing. I said "when?" . He said "when they break". So, I trust him. I'm even thinking about Paragon next weekend (after i get the ok from him of course). I say ride em out, then replace em. It's a scary lil noise though, I admit.

As far as doin it yourself I imagine you need a lift. Not that easy!

Transmission mounts are easy to replace. You just gotta hold the drivetrain up with a jackstand and a block of wood. Then removed the bolts in the middle of your crossmember, drop the crossmember, and replace the mount. Cake.

But I still say it's the motor mounts. My transmission mount was shot once before. I could tell because when I would take a curve at 20mph or more, the stick shift would lean in the cab. You could see the transmission shifting left and right around curves.
