The auto-down function for the driver's side window of my Jeep does not work. The window goes up and down fine, but when I click it to go down automatically, it doesnt.

My question was this...is that something that is fixable by me taking apart the door and doing something to the motor or mechanism in there? or does this sound like a problem that requires a new part? :?: I know this isnt a major issue, its just a way to help laziness along, but I'd like to get it working if possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

get some good old fashioned crank style windows like mine! they never break! i would say go ahead and take the door paneling off (its not hard) and just look around for a loose wire or connector.

Hi,

The power window system is controlled through the driver's side control module, as this is where the main electronics reside. It is most likely a problem with the driver's side control module causing the auto down feature not to work. These modules are fairly expensive, so If it was me I'd just accept the fact that the auto feature won't work

yeah, i figured out that its tempermental, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, oh well, i'm not going to waste my money, i can just hold the window button down, no big deal, thanks for the input.

I would try just getting a new switch... simple install and cheap. If it doesn't work you won't be broke.

I believe ALL the windows switches on the driver's door are a part of the power window system control module.

The auto down function is activated when the control module receives a delayed signal (more than a couple of seconds) from the window switch... if it was a bad switch, he wouldn't be able to do anything with that window.

Part Collection Process Complete

Okay well if it is the system control module you could probably save some bucks finding one in a junkyard.
