Hey
I got a 95 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 with 120000+ miles that started having some problems. A couple days ago I was driving and the car stated to slightly jerk while driving & losing power. The tank was pretty low so I figured maybe it's not getting enough gas (I try to never let it go below a quater tank). I got gas & went on my way. It seemed fine for 5 minutes then it wanted to die at a red light. The rpm's got below 450 and then returned to normal. It kept doing this but didn't die. Now when it wants to die, sometimes it makes a thump & returns to normal. It never made this thump before 2 days ago & isn't there usually a warning before the transmission goes out? I stopped in a parking lot because the car got real bad to drive & the rpm's were down to 100 in park then suddenly went up to 1600 for a sec then hovered at 1100 then returned to normal of about 600. A few months ago I has a spark plug wire arcing on the block & it caused similar feelings while driving but I checked the wires & did not notice any problems. I also jiggled the sensor connectors with no help. Could this just be fuel cutout or a much larger problem?
Thanks for the help in advance!
