Bought my Jeep last spring, ran great until about 4 months ago. What I first noticed was when I went to back up it died, then would almost die at stop lights. rpms drop all the way and then jump back up. Have also put my foot to the floor when it has died and engine fires back to life. Took it to local garage. But they fixed nothing. Any one have a clue. Please help.

I will give it a try, thanks. just in case have ya ever heard of a catalytic converter causing problems like this?

A good indication that a Catalytic Converter is failing would be ,if the engine runs fine when cold, progressively looses power as it gets hotter.eventually the engine will have a difficult time getting the RPM up to 2500. if this happens and you let the engine cool down for a few minutes and start over, this will confirm a bad Cat. Converter.

I appreciate all the suggestions, Have not had a chance to dig into any of them though, has been way to cold this week. But I will be doing this hopefully within the next week or so.
