:???: okay let's see who has the right solution. my yj will not start sometimes plenty of fuel but no spark. let it set for a hour or day or however long, go out and fires right up??? next go into town to get refreshments [ coorslight], total miles there and back 20. yj just dies just like i turned the key off4 times. once it just quit for a split secound than kept goin other times had to stop and fire back up, once it started back up after slowing down and lettin the clutch out. no matter the weather, bumps or smooth roads it will do it when ever it wants, kinda what my x wife says about me??? any ideas  tnsteelerfan

Sounds like the ignition module failing. Replace it and im about certain this will fix your problem.

Maybe a choke issue.Would make sense that if you let it sit you have no problems.Once it warms up it may not be opening all the way causing it to give too much fuel and not enough air. Then when it dies your engine is basically flooded making you wait awhile before it will restart.

where might the ignition module be i'm having a hard time finding it. acordin to chilton its next to battery but not there

found it thanks was not where book says! what up with that?

Happens a lot. Look at the manifolds in the book and on the Jeep sometime and see if you can get the bolts to match up!

Wow, the ignition module is about the last thing I have left on the engine that I haven't changed yet. I have a similar problem--the Jeep will cut out sometimes at random, often it will hesitate and try to die when I accelerate out of a stop or from coasting really slow. Only when it's cold, though. If it's warm it runs better. I put a Weber on it, had the head cleaned, put Team Rush ignition on it (so new coil, cap, rotor)--it starts a lot better but it will still hesitate and die, only when it's cold. I guess it's another $70 for the Jeep...

actually, it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator I put on in front of the Weber...one of those Mr. Gasket jobs...I turned it up from 3.5 to 5.5 and THAT problem went away.
