would 35 inch tires ruin a d35 or will it hold em?? are they really that weak?? I can't sell em for much so I figure I might as well just put on the 35s and drive it till it breaks. That's my philosophy haha[addsig]

You can use a 35 inch tire if you drive it on the street. It may last awhile but if you offroad it a few times and if your hard on it then it's going to bust. Thay say that a 33 inch tire is the biggest you should go with a dana 35. But who care's if it breaks that just means you can get a better axle.[addsig]

you can use it til it breaks, or you can sell it for some money toward a new one... if you INTEND on it breaking... you should buy a new one before that happens and get it ready for the quick swap[addsig]

Just do it ... If it breaks you will know it didn't
hold up ...but you could make the axle a little
stronger too////or just buy a new one........ :-D [addsig]

The exact answer to your question is Yes, you can put almost any size tires on any axle. The next question you should ask yourself is hot long will it last? In some cases you might suprise yourself and run your jeep for a year or so on a d35 with 35's but then again you might also suprise yourself by running only a week on a d35 with 35's. I say put them on the D35 then just wait for it to break, then you have a perfect excuse to upgrade. Then again if your single you might not be looking for excuses but being married im always looking for reasons/excuses to upgrade things on my jeep.

Ask yourself where will you be when it breaks? Do you have the parts along to fix it? How will you get home? Get the Jeep home?

Take it easy on the skinny pedal and you'd be surprised on how long it will last.

I wouldn't run 35"s on the stock gear ratio, so why bother spending $$ to regear the D35 when there is a high probability it'll break :-O [addsig]

go with a 9" or an 8.8"... but if you want to stay mopar... go with a D60... you'll be crying when you are broke down with a broken axle.. and nothing to replace it with

i just broke my d-35 on the trail and it is not very much fun. i was running 36 tsl and knew it was gonna blow sooner or later. the towing bill was a b?tch!!!! swap in a 44 or 9 inch or 8.8 asap. if any one is interested i am going with the 8.8 as a replacement. good luck![addsig]

Jeeper's-
my question as follows: would the kits that beef up the D35's be a viable option or is the route to replace the (D 35's) path of the righteous man? always wondered when viewing in the jeep porn mags. thanks.[addsig]

instead of a beef up kit... its just as cost efficient, or more, to find a used axle to upgrade to[addsig]

Many consider beefing up the D35 akin to polishing a turd :-O

Spend the same amount of money, or less, and upgrade. Get a used axle, regear and add a locker. The Ford 8.8 can be found stock with 3.73 and 4.11 gears, disc brakes, and even a limited slip. There was a place in FL selling brand new units on Ebay for around $550.[addsig]
