i am about to rebuild a 258 for my 87 wrangler, i dont want to keep the BA-10 and would like to replace it with an AX-15. are they compatable with out any major fabrication? thanks

The Peugeot BA10/5 has a 21 spline output, the AX15 is 23 spline. You'll need to swap in a 23 spline transfer case, or at a minimum change the transfer case input shaft to 23 spline, which requires complete disassembly of the transfer case.
You'll need the AX15 bellhousing and clutch components as well. Make the swap worthwhile and use a '94+ AX15 with the external clutch slave, and use the newer clutch master cylinder.
