2005 wrangler se regear.

i have a 2005 wrangler se. 4cyl with 6spd running 31s. would 456 gears be about right for that setup.:?::roll:

Not sure about the 6 speeds, but my stock '03 came with 410's......works just fine with 31's. If I were going to regear, I'd probably go to 538's but that would mean a lift, bigger tires, beefier axles, etc, etc........why I've stuck to the stock setup.

If your stock axle ratio is 4.10 you will want 4.88 gears. Changing to 4.56 is a minimal improvement and not worth the cost and trouble.

my stock gears are 373. driving around town its ok but if the wind is blowing or on the highway its not very good. i would like to run the speed limit on the highway and pull a small trailer.

Is that a 6 speed standard or automatic? I've seen the 3.73 gears behind a 4 cylinder with an automatic but never with a standard. Also not sure when they came out with the 6 speed automatic. Wifey has one in her 10 ford escape and i don't see the reason why it needs so many gears.

its a 6spd standard. i think the 6spds came in the 03-06 and 373 gears from factory. when they added the 6spd it did away with the 410 factory gears.

Wasn't in the '03's.....mine is 5 speed with 410's from the factory.

it may have been 04-06 im not sure but i do know i dont like this 6spd and dont see why they changed from the 5spd.

It's all about emissions. Lower revs is lower emissions. If it was me I would go as steep as a gear as possible with the 6 Spd. 488 or 513. Get that thing revving a bit.
