2.5L towing power

How much can the 2.5L tow? I have an 89 YJ 2.5L AX-5 and I need to tow a 1200 lb. boat. Is this too much strain on the little 4cylinder? I know I got the gearing to get it off the ramp, but what about power? Thanks.

You can pull it, I think the Jeep's rated at 2500trailer, 250tongue. You will be slower than most on the road, but heh, it's a Jeep :lol: [addsig]

Towing 1500-lb with my 4.3 V6 makes the
truck noticeable slower. Be very careful.
