1998 transfer case sector oring

Can the sector shaft oring ( shift rod )on the transfer case be replaced
without removing the transfer case? Where would i buy a
replacement oring ?

No, the sector shaft must be pulled from inside the transfer case.

You don't have to pull the transfer case from the vehicle in order to take the rear case half off and do the work, but it may be easier.

You might be able to match the oring at the hardware store, or maybe even the stealership. I could send you one if needed, I have a lot of transfer case parts on hand.
