If you will dedicate your self to follow every instruction..then POR15 has the products which will allow you to preserve the one on hand. They market a small sized kit with everything necessary including a little patch of F/G which will cover your need very well.

I've seen the product in some of the Jeep mags but never looked very closely. Will def take a look. Thanks for your input.

So the weld shop said no way. They said 3 hours minimum, but said the metal was too thin and they did not want to take the responsibility.

So, I did it the old fashioned way...

I blasted the inside of the cover with about 25lbs of sand to get all the rust flakes out. I filled the holes with JD Weld putty and sanded them down.

I then primed, sanded, and painted using a black engine paint. In the end, it turned out decent. I probably could do a better job the second go around, but it all worked out.
