So I put a 4 inch lift on my CJ5 first we did the front and drove it rode good---then we did the rear the following weekend and it rides like crap now!!! Thinking about just doing a SOA on the rear so I can use the stock springs again. Looking for some input here ?????

I have no input on your problem but it must have been intresting to drive with a 4" lift only in the front.:lol:

actually it wasnt bad, when I got it there was 1 stock leaf up front and stock in rear then on the front there was one different leaf and only 1 shock!!! (Unless I knocked that shock off on her first trip around the farm)

What exactly is it doing? Riding like crap can mean many different things.

As far as an SOA...ya that's the route I prefer to go. But it depends on whether you want to re-do it all no and put more money into it.

When I drove down blacktop it felt like over every bump the rear end was about to bounce off the ground, like I said when the lift was on the front only it rode good so I am trying to figure out if I do a Bolt on soa for the rear only and reuse my stock springs if you guys think it will work??? My only real concern is if the rear is higher than the front!!

Yes I put new shocks on front and rear, I think I just got crappy springs in the rear so these are my options I see

1) SOA lift the rear only so I can return to stock springs

2) Buy new 4 inch rear springs---Who makes the best ones???

3) Buy 2&1/2 rear springs----Anybody using superlift springs???

4) Return to stock---:lol::lol::lol:

there are a couple people in my club who run this set up, and it was factory in the FSJ's Not bad, but to get the spring heights to match, you might need to mix and match spring packs and or shackle to get it to look level.

personally I would SOA the front and SUA the rear, no worry about axle wrap and the extra weight of the motor will allow the flatter stock springs to flatten out more to level.

Would the Soa on the front not cause more axel wrap with the added weight of the motor???

Also my problem is with the rear lift springs they must just be to stiff with no weight on them.

No, weight has little to do with it, it is rotational torque applied, in the rear, because of the shackle location, it enables the spring to be more susceptable to the rotational torque, if you had a shackle reversal in the front, there could be a cause for worry, but generally not an issue with a SOA in stock configuration.
