07 Rubicon

Saw one tonight at Hanover Jeep. It changed my view. It looks tough, is loaded with 4WD friendly extras, and did I mention it looks tough?

The first 07 I saw was the 4 door, and I was hatin' them, but I have regained my respect for Jeep... that new Rubi is a bad-ass

what about the grapling hook rear shock mounts?

I saw an 06 unlimited next to it, it isn't that much better. Best I can say is they would have to be modified.

The skid plates under that rubi were impressive. It looked real flat underneath.

Still trying to get used to all the plastic.......but how can you NOT like a Rubicon, no matter what year?? I'm still waiting to see one on the lots around here - definitely going to have to check it out CLOSELY!!!!! One of these days, I'll be able to afford one.

you guys do what you want to....

I'm hold out for a Liberty Rubicon 2WD, Limited Hybrid, yeah thats the ticket!:purple: :purple: :purple: :purple: :purple:

Well they did have an '07 Unlimed Sahara 2 wheel drive model there that might just be too tempting for ya.

Gawd it sat low :-|

Got a chance to check one out yesterday at Barton Jeep (Spokane WA). Althought it was not a Rubicon, it was a "X" model soft top with the 6-speed transmission.

I didn't find too much undesireable except:

1. That monsterous muffler!
2. Noticed the rear shock mounts were much lower than the bottom of the differential!

Anyone else notice these or anything else that appears to be undesireable?

I didn't like the humongous plastic door handles, either.

I finally went and saw one.
The shock mounts are horrible, the muffler is way tot big and will get crushed on a steep departure angle, skid plates look weak in areas, but at least its a solid front axle.;)

I liked the steering wheel/dash relationship, liked the overall layout of the inside. The radio looks like a cheap casio watch knock-off out of the Toyota Tundra.:(
The leg room on the six speed was pretty good.
Did you know that for the upgrade models you can play DVDs through the GPS Nav screen, only in park. Don't know how that works for the standards though??

The best part was starting her up and reving that mighty mini van motor that makes all of its torque at 3000 RPM!!!

Outside I kinda liked the looks . I think it's a big compramise for the Rescue concept that they never got around to building. They are definatley trying to lure back some of the old Cherokee fans with this 4 door deal.

I like Jeeps, but overall if I was going to spend that much, I'd be seriously comparing with an H3 for about the same price.

But I didn't do it with a Dr. Z Jeep!

I finally went and saw one.

Was that an 07 Rubicon or a non-Rubicon?

If a non-Rubicon, the skid plate will, hopefully, be better than what I saw on the "X" model!

I agree with that!!!

That will probably be bypassable with a simple wiring change, as most things are. For example, most states require you to run your fog lights WITH your low beams - kind of kills the usefullness of the fog lights. To modify this, a simple wiring change fixes that! I can turn on and off my fog lights whenever!

Outside I kinda liked the looks.

Although I thought the doors looked very similar to those off the H3!!!

I think it's a big compramise for the Rescue concept that they never got around to building.

Never saw the Rescue concept!!!! Any hints???

They are definatley trying to lure back some of the old Cherokee fans with this 4 door deal.

Or get more interest from off-roaders that need easier access with families and more passengers! Some of the previous model Wranglers were quite hard to get into. And it was a big step to get out, especially if they were lifted!!

I like Jeeps, but overall if I was going to spend that much, I'd be seriously comparing with an H3 for about the same price.

And have a bigger, size-wise, vehicle that may not go as many places as the 07 (although I have not made a dimensions comparision between the H3 and the 07s!).
