Remove the knee bolster (cover) , upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect all the electrical connectors from the ignition switch, multifunction switch etc. On the bottom of the steering column base, there should be 4 retaining nuts, 2 on the upper (closer to the steering wheel )and 2 on the lower (closer to the floor board. Before you remove those retainers, you need to remove a bolt on the upper intermediate shaft to disconnect the steering wheel from the steering gear. Also, disconnect the brake lamp switch then depress the brake pedal and carefully remove the switch so it doesn't get damaged.
