To auto lock or manual lock~ That is the question

if you can buy manual hubs for that dana 44 that would be the best opion IMO. look for a set of flat top knuckles( case you ever go with high steer) and just use all the chevy parts from the knuckle out....lots of junk yards have these parts but the flat top knuckles may be harder to find.

sj front D44 & brakes question

I got a Wrangler Unlimited... for weilding cast you will want to pre-heart the area before weilding to it and also post-heat the area after weilding it. the reason for this is that the weld cools faster than the cast or vice versa and can lead to cracking....use a good stick weilder and use...

    Cheap tricks

take off skid plate...thread in one bolt into one side...put a looped tow strap on that bolt and run it under the transmission and over the frame rail on the other side...give you the leverage you need to line it up when installing.. OR weld up a box and extension onto an old jack and...

    Cheap tricks

easiest way to take a carrier out....stuff a shop rag in between the ring gear and pinion gear...turn the driveshaft untill the carrier pops out.( backlash is usually enough to get her out). this way there is no banging, pulling or prying around those expensive new gears!

    synthetic gear oil?

i would agree with you in theroy junkpile. however with that being said i have notice a great improvment in my 5 speed after switiching it to syn. oil. less grinding and smoother shifts. now that could be because of the mess of white fluid that was in my transmission before tho.

    installing axel

WJ overheating w/ ARB Bull Bars a small magnet..such as a nuts and bolts wand may help you get those c-clips out of that lock-rite. as i recall there is a very small slot which those c-clips come in or out of the lock-rite. try pointing the carrier upside-down and tap on the top of the carrier...
