TJ Transmission Problem -> Bad Warranty Service

RE: Links4Jeeps Does that mean that I don't have the brass synchro gears like the AX15 did?

TJ Transmission Problem -> Bad Warranty Service

Hey, I thought "Five Star" was just a gimmick. But I just looked at the website and I see that only about half of the dealers in my area are Five Star dealers, and NOT the one I had visited. Sounds like my path is clear cut from here. You guys rock. Steve

    Tire sizes

The only problem with 33x12.5s with only 2" of lift is that it will rub pretty heavily at full flex if you disconnect the front sway bar. But if you leave it connected, those tires are just about perfect. Steve

TJ Transmission Problem -> Bad Warranty Service

RE: Body work Oops, I meant to include that. It's an 03. I guess that makes it an AX-15 right? Thanks again, Steve

TJ Transmission Problem -> Bad Warranty Service

RE: Re: New guy Hey guys, I've got some transmission woes that I need some input on. My TJ has about 33K miles on it. It is now popping out of 5th gear under power. It won't do it all the time, but it happens once or twice a day. I took it in to the dealer, and they took two days to tell...

Pictures from my weekend trip to Shiloh Ridge in Texas

I wish that camper was mine. That belongs to the brother of the guy who's website that is. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $150, give or take. As for me, I just wish I could afford a 4 wheeler to tow behind the Jeep... Steve

Pictures from my weekend trip to Shiloh Ridge in Texas

Yeah, it was a real good time. I got away with just a bent bar in the soft top and a couple areas that need a little TLC. It didn't even touch the body though.

Pictures from my weekend trip to Shiloh Ridge in Texas

We went to Shiloh Ridge ORV park this last weekend and got some good pictures. My buddy has it hosted on his webpage for anyone that wants to check it out. There's a picture of my TJ laying on it's side after a slight miscalculation, along with a video showing how it got that way. There's...

Best locker for the front of a TJ

I just called Tratech about the EZ Locker. He said they're not warranted for tires above 32". Anyone have problems running them with 33s? I don't think it's a big deal, most 33s really only measure 32 and change anyway, right?? Does an EZ Locker up front change the way it would drive...

Best locker for the front of a TJ

My TJ is a daily driver, but I like to go when I can. Looking for options for a locker on the front. I see that an EZ Locker can be had for about $240. Do you think it would give me heartache on the street? The price seems right, I just want to make sure it's not a mistake. Also, I've got...

    TJ Front End Noise

Well, we'll see if the shifter is my problem. I should get the correct linkage tomorrow and I'll go from there. Yeah, mine sounds kind of like Bounty Hunter said, a chatter about sums up the sound. Steve

    TJ Front End Noise

So I had a look last night. I couldn't find any evidence of tire rubbing. What I did find is that when the 2" body lift was installed (done by dealership before I bought it), the upper transfer case shift lever was not replaced with the longer one. It's all the way at the end of the...

    TJ Front End Noise

Got it. I'll have a look tonight and see what I can see. Thanks for the info. Steve

    TJ Front End Noise

I'm pretty sure I wasn't rubbing anything. I can have a look though. It should be pretty easy to reproduce. Maybe this time I'll have a spotter see if anything looks out of place. I've also got a 2" body lift, so I wouldn't think it was rubbing on the body. 4" should be just right with...

    TJ Front End Noise

So I was out muddin' yesterday in my TJ. I noticed a really strange noise coming from (guessing here) the T-case. It seems to only happen when the wheels are turned hard to one side, and spinning. From the sound of it, it's almost like gears not totally lined up and skipping teeth. I cut the...

Getting ready for an off-road trip

Ok, so I'll get the front discos. I'll leave the track bars alone. Any point in disconnecting the rear sway bar? Steve

Getting ready for an off-road trip

Guys, I've had my TJ for a while and am planning on going on an offroading trip in a couple weeks. I've done some mudding, but there isn't a lot of climbing around town here in Dallas, so I haven't needed much in the way of suspension travel as of yet. I keep reading about disconnecting the...

    Lefted TJ

Good News L33TJ33P, I didn't see your response until I had already replied. I guess I'll get the tape measure out and have a look when I get home. Thanks for the heads-up, Steve

    Lefted TJ

I didn't notice anything like that. To be honest, it didn't drive any different than before I put the spacers in. If that's the only thing to watch out for, it looks like I'm in good shape. Thanks for the quick response, Steve

    Lefted TJ

Guys, I've got a TJ with 4" of lift (2" body and 2" coil spacers) and 33x12.50s. I just put the coil spacers in last night, because the 33s were a little big with just the 2" body lift. I drove it in to work this morning, everything felt fine. I just wanted to be sure if there's anything I...
