Yea, I stopped at VEX and never moved forward. I would not step up even to the TJ, as much as I love 'em. With what is coming, the computer in these modern rigs will stall folks--forever. VEX is retro point and condensor. Robert

Wow, wow. A TJ on leafs. I always pondered what that would be like as I have always had a weakness for the TJ since it came out. Incredible job and the Jeep looks fabulous. The frame work is excellent and the beef up is too-- ready for the 12,000 lb winches front and rear. Hat is tipped. Robert

As long as tie rod ends, steering, ball joints, etc, are sound and tight, one cannot tell they are running them........ Robert

Learn to weld, cut out the crap, rebuild 200% heavier, dial it up. VEX was a total-- it worked out fine and that was 21 years ago...... Robert

It's hard to believe a leaf spring suspension can have this much flex and droop, but those revolver shackles are amazing and even though you have to undo the sway bar down links, its worth it. Love the flex VEX gets with this set up.... Robert

Well, thank you so much. This site is so fun as all of you, and folks like yourself, can post away and share and appreciate the tales of adventure these damn Jeeps provide. Really fun. And after 49 years, so much to share. I'm going to start posting the overseas shots/stuff as well...

    Helps please?

Bad Deal. Park the Jeep in front of the C.O's. office. Check in with MPs upon arrival. Padlock the hood. US Mil. must replace stolen parts/vehicle. See this: http://www.sddc.army.mil/sddc/Content/Pub/42483/GCCNFlyer.pdf How old are you and your husband? I'll replace Jeep parts if you do...

...........and then, this is the heaviest thing I've pulled out with VEX, ever, to test the weld up, mods, winches, blocks, etc. The truck was stuck, weighing in at 66,000lb. loaded with concrete and the mud was cooking off and it was McCelroy and Wilken's latest, brand new truck. We didn't have...

Well, thank you sir and most kind. It is fun after all these years where you can tell the tale of our Jeeps, maidens we keep, and the whole trip therewith. This site sure provides that. The unnerving part for me is next year, it will be 50 years with Jeeps (1963-2013)............oh my...

Christine, my maiden at the time for the trip (I had to leave for Honduras a week after this trip), had been walking in front of me on these fire trails with the huge 'Kelly Humps' built in for erosion sake, and kept watching as I went up over them and got the photo, among others. It was fun...

Hi, Robert Stephens here. I got a '83 CJ7, named VEX. I almost stepped up to a TJ-Rube that color as it was close enough to my desert tan color, and then to take it into the field with me overseas. If you ever wish to sell that rig, let me know. I'll buy it. Thank you, Robert

Which soft top should I buy?

Bestop, hands down. I've had mine now 7 years and it looks the same the day I put it on, no fading in the desert heat, all the huge Zytel zippers and fasteners work perfectly, all the window combinations come off and on with ease, stays taught in hot or cold, rail fold to body is extremely...
