Comp cutting the Jeep

I like pretty much anything that looks nice and clean. Here's some pics, I've got more too. Do you want to dovetail it and all that other stuff too?

Oh, then ignore the dovetailed parts of the second group of pics.
None of them are mine. I never got around to doing it to my Jeep. A few of those have LED's too, so hopefully that gives you a few ideas.

You mean the black one with the goodyear MTR's and the fuel cell? nope, those are the only pics I could find of it. He definatly should have smoothed that out a little more though.

just comp cut it and bring it back down to the bottom of the corner panel, if you want to cut off more go for more but thats where id start, by keeping the cut all within the side of the jeep

Get the axle under it, and drop a plumb bob from the fender down to the center of the axle hub. That is the centerline of your new wheel opening if you're not planning on doing the full cut. After laying that out, it will be apparent where you need to cut after a couple of measurements. Use cardboard templates to find the look you want BEFORE you start hacking metal.
I'm not a fan of the full cut......or "comp" cut as the crawlers apparently now call it. I'm glad all the rockcrawlers came around and reinvented the wheel for all the rest of us fourwheelers. Now we have cool names for everything.

The black jeep with MT/Rs also has the rear of the tub narrowed, notice how the sides of the fenders kick in as they go towards the rear.
Looks like the jeep with the 'ProComp Tires' sticker put the wrong sticker on his jeep

I like the first white pic, not the black one. That is dovetailing on the black jeep.
I like the look of a comp cut, but there are so many ways to do it. And you only get one shot at it. I think I will try to get it to look like this

As far as the rear body mounts, they will have to be removed for the xj kit. I am somehow going to have to fab some new ones. I am putting my gas tank into the cargo area and bolting it down. As far as fuel lines, I am going to drill holes in the tub to do run them to the motor.

Both of them (the white and black jeep) in the second group of pitures are dovetailed (narrowed in the rear).
Haha, I didn't even notice that about the tires though, that's pretty funny :lol: .
I like that look on that Bluetorch Fabworks Jeep though Bryan! The very first white Jeep and the very first black jeep pictures that I posted are the same thing, which is why I posted them (I like the look!!).

On that picture you posted though Bryan, see where his fuel door used to be....I would take some metal and weld in a piece there so that square opening will be gone.
That would give it a real clean look and wouldn't be hard to do if you have a welder and a grinder and some paint.

its a kit to swap in xj leafs in place of the wrangler leaves for a longer wheelbase. it moves the shackles back further so you can mount the xj leafs and keep an appropriate shackle angle

i think i like the last pic the best.. those angeld lights look krippling super smooth
angeld cut also makes the booty look a little smaller and enhancing the size of the tires
