zj disks on D44

Hey guys,
I finally got some disk brakes for my D44 off a ZJ. I have been researching this for a while, but I still am unclear on one part.
Apparently I need a custom spacer so the seal installs correctly...
but I have also been seeing people use a "retainer plate"...

This guy mentions both

This guy mentions only the spacer.

I don't know if the second guy just forgot to mention it or what.... Any help or input would be appreciated! Or if you find a better write up... send it on over!
