Hello

i'm lookin to buy a YJ and i have no clue what the difference is between a Sahara and a renengade and so on.. is that jus the trim difference? can anyone tell me where to see what kind of trims there were? i'm looking for a YJ maybe from 1990-1994.. oh yeah, are there any YJs with more than two seats???
also, are there any common problems with YJs that i should look for before buying one? or any year of YJs that i should avoid? any help would be appreciated.. Thnx

Try to get a fuel injection and the diferences are just different trims, interior, and pampering items......Good luck...

I agree with jhiggins, the main reason I got rid of all my last jeeps was I got sick and tired of dealing with horrible carbs. but I will say my last one I did the nutter bypass and it ran 100x's better but still gave me a tough time starting on cold days, fuel injection is the only way for me from now on.

The stickers are different from the rengade and sahara,The only bad things I,ve heard is that 94's use 93 and 94 parts. 8) 8)

the renegade has larger composite fenders than the other YJ's. You can't install aftermarket flares to a renegade.

The 87 yj had a lot of problems with the clutch slave.

If you can get a 1991 - 95... those are the YJs that have the Fuel Injected 4.0... like jhiggins and jwhite said, the 4.0s run much better than the carborated 4.2s and you get an extra 60 Horsepower with the 4.0. actually I'm talking like your getting a 6 cyl... the 4 cyl FI engines also have a boost in HP 91-95... you do get a 4.11 ratio with the 4 cyl model if you care about that... the 6 cyl came with 3.07. When I was looking for a jeep I researched all this as well, I found it's worth holding out for a 91 and up... unless you found an older one that is all done up already! Good luck.

I'd have to say they're right about carb YJs. I've got a 90 which was the last year with the carb and have had problems with the carb for a while. The 4.2 is a little more torquey but I think it has a slower top end. Whatever you get I'm sure you'll be happy.

'91 is the first year for fuel injection on every YJ.
'92 changed the rear rollbar style to better cover rear passengers.
'93 uses a clutch unlike any other YJ, kinda an oddball.
'94 first year for external clutch slave, it's the way to go if you've ever had to replace an internal slave.
'95 has larger front axle u-joints, 297x versus the older 260x. 297x is what the D44 uses.
