YJ HELP?

OK,
I recently bought a 95 YJ from a dealer. It is lifted and running 35" tires. The problem is I dont know what kind of lift is on it. I know it has a Warrior shackle reversal, and add a leaf ( in the back), and a 2" body lift. From what I have read this should not give me enough clearance to run such a large tire. Is there anyway to tell if they are aftermarket leafs? Also is there an easy way to tell what gears are in it?

SPRING OVER ON AN 82 CJ 7

vin number should get you your gears, but if they have 35's he has prolly changed them out...

Hey Tug, I might be moving to Tenessee in 2 years. My company is opening up another plant there and they've mentioned my having to move there...mabye. Won't know for sure for another year.

If the springs are under the axles, it's most likely a 4" Suspension lift. If the springs are on top of the axles, it's a spring over axle (SOA) conversion.

Check for a tag on the diff covers, 1st three digits should be your gear ratio.

Any chance you can post a pic of the suspension? Or email it to bountyhunter@sija.org and I'll host it for everybody to see.

How do you like your shackle reverse? I've been thinking about doing one for a while, just needed to talk to some people, and see if they liked it.

Some shackle reversal kits give the Jeep lift. That's why you have an add a leaf in there. As for the springs, most are stenciled with the mg's part number. The dealer probably painted over them. Hit it with a pressure washer and see if the stencils reveal themselves.
For the gear ratio, you either have to check the tag or count the teeth.

Well i am in Middle TN, in Murfreesboro. I love the shakcle reversal cause the dang shackles dont hang down in the front. I didnt notice any change in ride, but that could be because of the add a leaf.

Is it possible to run 35x12.5's with out haveing more than a 3" lift? And if the stock gears are still in the rearends how will it perform? I seems slugish now but, well i just dont know.

Rocker Guards

you would have to have a 3" lift at least to fit 35's. Thanks for letting me know about that shackle reverse though.
