Wheel Spacers

RE: safari bikini,duster,deck cover

I am considering purchasing 1.5 in Wheel spacers for my TJ, they are the better ones by Trail sport, anyone using them ? What does everyone think about on the street and trail usage.

Thanks
Randy, Bethlehem Pa.

I don't really see any big downside to wheelspacers except the increased load put on the wheel bearings. Which isn't something to take too lightly, but not that big of a deal either. It will be more stable on the street and trail, because the track width is being increased.

RE: Re: RE: Beans or no beans in Chilli?

I was going to say it will get you in trouble in PA, from what others here have told me, but I see you already have the bigger flares, so you won't be sticking out. Isn't it in NJ that they don't allow wheel spacers? Thought I read that in the "Failed Inspection" thread awhile back. Once you get the spacers on, check the lugs for tightness every 25-30 miles for the first 100, then each 50-60 miles for the next 500 or so. I've heard horror stories of them working loose with spacers. I personally think it will make your TJ look better having a little wider stance, and as Junkpile pointed out, it will definitely add some stability. One thing I can't stand on a Jeep is a narrow wheelbase, or at least having the wheelbase look narrower than the body. Mine looks perfect with my wheels and tires now.....not that I'm prejudiced or anything, I've just got the best looking Jeep in the world.

Got 1.5" spacers on a 79 CJ-5 and they are fine - great product and well built - can check on manufacturer if need be - am running 17" diameter rims w/new design 13.5 x 37" tall Toyo tires - ya, check the torque of the spacers 2-3 times so you can sleep at night LBR

Nothing wrong with running 'em, they put the same amount of increased leverage on your axles and bearings as do using rims with less backspacing.

They're a great idea if you like the rims you have, but sometimes it's cheaper to buy new wheels with less backspacing. Wheel spacers can be expensive.

RE: Will someone PLEASE buy me this??

a lot of comp guys run wheel spacers to get their lug patterns correct, i think youll be fine
