What should I do?

I blew out a seal on my D30. Should I swap in a set of axles from a 4cyl with 4.10's (I currently have 3.07's); pay 550 in labor and another 400 in parts to regear the front and rear (550 includes new seals and such); or just have the seal replaced in the front D30? My YJ with a 4.0l can not maintain a speed in 5th gear (unless I have the wind at my back), and on the way back from Vegas I was losing speed going downhill in 4th. Will I be able to resell my axles if I swap in a set of 4cyl axles? Thanks for your opinions, Lane.

Try to find a set of axles out of a 2.5L 5spd jeep and swap them in. Now's the time to do it, since you'll have to tear into your front axle to fix the seal if you don't.

You should be able to resell your old axles, worst case scenario is you'll have to part them out. 3.07 gears aren't highly sought after, so it's usually just the housings and shafts that are worth anything, and the hubs. You could probably get $100 for 2 hubs on here.
