what happened, spark fuel i dunno

after hitting a mud hole and spinin the tires a generous amount gettin high in the rpms, i get out of the pit and the jeep sounds like a lawn mower and has no power, i had to keep the engine reved up or it would shut off as soon as i let off the gas. i tow it back to the house, pull the plugs and there super black like i was runnin rich. whats the problem, what are some causes of richness? my guess so far might be the ignition module got a lil wet and decided to die. and other opinions? 86 2.5 fuel injected.

I dont think the black plugs are related to the mud.. that was happening long before.. most likely you got mud in the distributor, or your wires got wet. also make sure you didnt get mut in the intake..... Sounds like a spark issue though. Check the coil wires too. If there is mud cakes in there it will be a partial short to ground.

ignition module or fuel pressureregulator is what im limiting this to, does any one know how to check to see if the ignition module is bad??> anyhting please!

Hi,

First you need to know if the module and coil are integrated or seperate units. If they are seperate, you could probably test it but I doubt it would be easy to do.
