what goes in this

Cant find a pipe plug to use. What goes in the hole just above the manifold heater hole. Any ideas. the only thing I found close was one of the connectors on an electrical box that holds the conduit on it. I just started trying to use anything I could to get the thread. Its fine pitch and bigger than 1/2 and smaller than 3/4. hardware store and parts places don't have any.

isnt that where the little line off the exhaust hooks in? its the one that goes to the bottom part of the egr so when vacuum is pulling on hte egr, the exhaust is mixed into the fresh air charge and gets reburned

^^ was just gona say I think one of the exhaust tubes for emissions go,s there. The last 6cyl I had, had all of the emissions stuff off of it and I just plugged that hole. found a threaded plug to fit.

I saw a post where a guy used a oil pan plug. 7/8 18 is the size. might be a winner.

Jim,

The other guys are right, that is the ERG valve tie-in. I can tell you that it should be a NPT or plumbing thread, not sure about the size. I have a couple of the stock manifolds at home and will check later today.

Hey also, you may want to put a small beed of RTV around the manifold heater when you re-intall it. They had a paper gasket in addition to the o-ring seal.

I'm way ahead of you on that one for a change, LOL. Ran some blue rtv from permatex on it.
I stuck some modeling clay up in the hole yesterday to make a cast of the threads. Fine instead of pipe thread.

Having a few years back having to remove a steel pipe plug from the Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold (installing a mech temp gauge) I cursed the P.O. for not using "Never Sieze" on the threads. By the Grace of God and a little ingenuity I got the thing out but it was a bear.

I hear ya!!. Couple of plugs on this one needed a 4 ft cheater bar even after it was hot dipped.
