What CB antenna/radio...

What size CB antenna/radio do you run? Or at least which would you recommend? I'm in the market to Get one and was wondering what tips I could get. I'll take anything you can say about them.

I'm running a 60" steel whip antenna on my TJ which I mounted in the stock tire carrier bolt holes and ran the cable through the gasket where the wire for the stock tire carrier goes through the tailgate. Thats wired up to a compact Cobra 19 DX IV 40 channel CB.

Ahhh sweet thanks.I'm looking at a 102" whip that radioshack sells, and i'd hook that up to an old CB that was my dad's when he was my age.

The 102 in would be my recomendation always. I run a 102 with a Galaxy 88 10/12 meter radio. It is converted to 11 meter (CB). When you install the antenna make sure the SWRs are set. You do not need 18 feet of coax, don't let anyone tell you you will. I run 9 foot, have a reading of 1:1.2 on a antenna analyzer. I also run a yeasu ft100d on that same 102 inch whip. (not at the same time). As to old radio, nothing wrong with them. Get it cleaned and tuned up. hope to hear ya on the airwaves

I'm very happy with this mount:

I use a 3 foot hard antenna with it (and take it off when I'm not offroading). I've currently got a standard CB with a cigarette plug attached, but I plan on getting one with the radio integrated into the handset.

I tend to think that you don't need alot of range, just something that stays out of the way and doesn't beat against your top.

i run a connex 3300hp converted to 11meter with a 2 pill outlaw linear and a outlaw coil antenna with a 50 ohm puck hard wired with 12'of coax the antenna is in height 6'10" i am flat matched on 1-40 analised with a aim meter and push 500 watts on the bird meter i like to talk skip with my setup, ya might hear me out there 062 muduck.....

'Black Betty' uses a Uniden 538 XLW mated to a Palomar 350 with the 102" whip. I played with the length of coax until I achieved 1.1 The weather band on this rig is a nice feature too.

I run a Midland 75-822 (also has weatherband; useful when I was in FL, but not so much in Panama and Costa Rica!) with a Firestik Firefly II 4' fibrerglass antena. I'm very happy with the setup... Regardless what combo you choose, though, remember to tune the antenna! You'll get much better performance if you do. I also reached 1.1 SWR.

I have and love the Cobra 75 WX ST and Liberty Antenna with Custom Mount.
