What are the rare or desireable options in a cj? Hate to pass up something hard to find when I'm diggin' around at the bone yard. Mine has a factory tach. Haven't seen one before but I'm new to the jeep world.

Tilt wheel came in some of the later ones...power steering is nice...20gal fuel tank...courtesy lights...

Factory tach is definately a rare option, but not too hard to find, I have two in my shed.

Some of these are rare, some are just getting damn near hard to locate now.

Levis editions
Actual 1981 anniversary cj's that are also golden eagle jeeps
Warn Overdrives
V8 in a CJ8
J10 tugs
Semi Floating 5 lug D60 rears from J20 trucks <- very hard to find, very desirable, only years were 74-76 I believe

There's a CJ10 on the Knoxville Craigslist for bout 1200 or 1500, has a fuel delivery prob or something. Looks like it's very soild, been on there before and didn't sell.

My friend's 79 CJ7 (Renegade) had factory AC. That's the only one I've ever seen. It also had a 304, 4 speed, tilt wheel, dash pad, and courtesy lights. My 78 CJ7 was as plain as could be except for the 258. So riding in my buddy's Jeep was like riding in a Cadillac (well... OK... not really  - it was like riding in a Jeep with a bunch of extra stuff you really didn't need  ) . -John

I got lucky on a couple of counts, 360 (from a waggy likely), tilt wheel, dash pad, clock and tach, but I'd trade the latter for a T18a

Yea, tilt wheel would be nice. Im 6'4 and 265, I wear a CJ5 like a little black dress. I'm gonna slice the wheel well so the seat will go back a little more. I had wondered about air, never seen it on a CJ either. I know you don't see many automatics, my best friend had one in his CJ7. Mine has power disk brakes but I don't the front were even workin' when I drove it home, the front calipers look like 2 big dirt clods. Power disk seems to me like overkill in a jeep.

Quadratrac is rare for CJs. I almost bought one years ago, I think it was a '79 (CJ-7). The 4lo switch is in the glove box, kinda neat.

...another rare and desireable option, a CJ that doesn't stain yer garage floor
(I know, I know, it's just a low tech chassis lubrication option)

The guy I got mine from said Jeep's are suppose to leak. It keeps the dust down on the trail.
