Waterlock? From what i hear you want to take your plugs out and have it turn over a few times to get the water out... and an oil change is a must. Somewhere i heard you can spray WD(Water Displacement) 40 in the cylinders to get the water out.. then it will burn up, but i dont know anybody thats done it so it wouldnt be my first choice. Sorry dude good luck... Oh yea and dont drive it till you fix it[addsig]

If you are hissing... we might be talking some bearing problems in your alternator or other accessories... or it could be a loose vacuum line... there is a number of possibilities really... gotta throw your head in and trace it[addsig]

i'd also pull off your distributor cap and make sure thats dry in there...[addsig]

Watch for milky color in your oil and othr fluids change anything that does not look right! Take it to a car wash and wash out your wheelwell areas. Everything that moves in there. Good Luck Tug[addsig]

First off, how deep and how much water. I did something along the same line, but mine was submerged for everal hours. The WD40 thing works if you have a little water in a the cylinder but not if you have alot(more than a teaspoon). You need to do an oil change if you have any water in the engine, this is an absolute must! I don't think your engine would be hydrolocked if it runs, but DO NOT RUN IT untill you have fixed the problem. You could bend rodes or much worse. Take off your plugs and turn the engine over, if you have water that sprays out, this is obviously part of the problem. I know what your goin though, I got all my help from the folks here. They know their stuff. Hope ya get the jeep running.

Good luck, Paul[addsig]

I really apriciate the help everyone. I got the problem taken care of. I got really lucky and the problem was that my cat-converter was toast and clogged up. The hissing noise was all that backpressure.

I got a new cat on it and a new muffler and its running like a champ. Thanks for all your help.

I took my 91 through a huge water puddle at about 50mph and recked the starter hard core... The car bogged as I flew through the puddle.. mind everyone I did this in the summer with no top or doors on so I had a 6ft wave come up and over the windshield and had about 4" of standing water... the car was running a little funny and it was like a 1/2 a mile down the rd. and there was steam rollin out from underneath the car which turned out to be the starter core burning up and evaporating water... it was pretty fun till i got the bill for a new starter[addsig]

Glad to hear things are all better. I have also went thru some deep puddles myself ending up with about 2 inches of water inside the Jeep. One thing that is good to do is try and hook up some kind of snorkle system for your Jeep so when the going gets deep, you don't have to worry about gettin water inside your Jeep. That and make sure all your air intake lines are tight so that if they ever get pushed around a little by water, (mind you, that is some DEEP water...) that they don't come off letting all the water into your Jeep. I am trying to devise some kind of snorkle system for my Jeep that will be both cheap, functional and home made. I feel that a Jeep should be bought once, not keep buying things that you could make yourself... I'll keep you posted on any ideas that I come up with.

BTW- Why didn't you just hollow out the cat? Much cheaper....
