Weld it all you want. It will more than likely crack when you flex it. If you are making a buggy spring setup then drill a hole through the spring with a crabide bit and lots of cutting oil. Do the same with whatever mount you have. The bolt will hold the spring to the frame and you can still weld it if you like.

i've welded leaf springs before... some held.. some didn't... i found the ones that i welded on super high heat, to penetrate in, seemed to work better... but they were all in different areas, that could have been the variable
