Weird, it clicks. Why?

I was hoping I wouldn't have to post something here for another couple thousand miles.

It just started last week. I'v got a new TJ, 3500 miles on it. When I turn the key, it clicks. I turn again and it clicks again. Then it starts up. Sometimes it stars the second time I try, like this morning. On Friday though it took like 3 or 4 times before it started.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the starter...probably from sitting in that mud LOL...here's what ya do...take her to a u wash place, make sure ALL of the mud is outta her (underneath, the engine, inside lol) and then off to the stealer....should be a warrenty part

With 3500 miles it sounds like a problem I'd let the dealer worry about, warranty is a great thing it's free and it makes the problem theirs and not yours.

Sounds like the starter brushes may be full of crude, starters arn´t water proof. You should learn to use a Jeepers favorite tool the BFH. Often after a trip, through the deep water or mud, some muddy water keeps the brushes from making good contact, inside the back of your starter. A couple of serious taps with a hammmer will help the brushes seat. Have a mechanic show you how to do this, it could mean the difference between driving and walking home someday.

hammer the started u probably got mudd in it like i did in mine clean it out real good and if it keeps doing that take it to the dealer its there problem not urs

Needs more mud!!!

Laura, clean real good, I know thats a stretch for Brad but needs to be real clean. The dealership will not honor warrenties if they think you abuse your vehicle, like closing your eyes, flooring it over a six foot embankment only to land on the other side in four feet of water!

Well it happned again this morning, except it didn't start for like 30 mins.

Do you think it has to do with cold? Stupid girly question, I know.

Laura,

Don't believe those guys. Listen to Gadget.

Your Jeep is talking to you in Morse Code. Your Jeep is trying to tell you something.

Gadget puts on his telegrapher's hat and listens....

"click, click, clickety-click, clickety-click-click, click...."

Yep....it is just as I thought.

Laura, your Jeep is telling you to grab Joe and take him with you on a cruise to the Bahamas.

Trust me. I know about these things.

 Are you sure? Because I havn't taken him out in a while, he might be mad at me for just driving him on the street? LOL! You might need to put the hat back on, and see if he wan't me to take HIM (the Jeep) to the Bahamas!
