WD-40 on cam bearings?

About a month ago I coated my engine block (dipped, vatted, bored, decked, cam bearings press in) in WD-40 to prevent it from rusting as I knew I would not be able to work on it for a while. Now I'm wondering if the corrosive properties of the WD-40 would have damaged the cam bearings (which were quite well doused in it). Any input is welcome.

Should be fine if it's not pitted. Should be able to touch it up with a real fine emory cloth or steel wool.

Ouch on the WD-40! I use Power Punch (remember STP?) to coat all "important" surfaces. It is heavy and sticky enough to stay put for the long term, unlike a regular motor oil and heaven forbid WD-40. LBR

I've always heard you use WD40 to free up parts and things like that, but that it was too corrosive itself too use as a protectant.
