Does anyone have a list of vehicles that have the 4.0 head need to upgrade a 258? Also are there any distinguishing marks on the head that lets you know you have the right one?

Basically any jeep vehicle that was produced post 91 with a 4.0 will do!

You'll have the best results with a 91-98 model head. Casting numbers 0603 and 7120(I think). The 99 and up heads have smaller exhaust ports than the earlier ones, but would still be a good upgrade.

What has to be done to the 4.0 liter head to make it compatible with the 258? Will a head off a motor that was fuel injected work?

Some of the coolant passages need to be sealed off, I have seen it done with Hi temp epoxy

I just ordered one from Clearwater Heads. Or some thing like that. Just google Clearwater Heads and they will pop up. Wasnt cheap. Though $400 including shipping. All the jackets will be welded, valvle job and ect. Give them a call if you got the bones. They come highly recomended on the web. Also takes 2 weeks to get one from them. So dont disasemble to soon.

You'll also have to modify the 4.2L manifolds a little to bolt up to the 4.0L head. Tons of web sources for this, and a forum out there somewhere dedicated to this and other 4.2L and 4.0L mods.
