Trail this weekend...

I did not plan on going out this weekend. I just bought a JVC KD-g720 Car rqadio for the Mighty YJ. It seems (at least for me) that cd mechanisms don't last long in Jeeps. It has to do with all of that bouncing around an whatnot. So, I found a radio that plays MP3/WMA files vis a USB port. Works great!

The new radio arrived on Friday and was installed on Saturday morning. Still early, so what do you DO? Field test!!!

We drove from Denver to Slaughterhouse Gulch. On the North 1/2 of the trail loop, the slopes are steep and the ice was thick. At points, I had the brakes stomped, tires locked and the Mighty YJ was still gaining momentum. As I lookeed to my Right at one point, I saw a large 4x4 pickup abandoned at the side of the trail with a chain still attached to the front hard point. Just below that, cairns were placed across the trail. It was slippery at that point. We truned around and went back out. The South side was not as bad. Some areas were slippery but very navigable. We went all the way down to the base of the hill.

Saw several other out and having fun. One small group had busted the front drive shaft and was having a slow go of it. There were two in their party and they waved us around. We led them out to the trailhead.

Oh yeah!! Radio worked great!!
