Is this a decent piece, will this thing work in my XJ (chrys 8.25 rear) and how hard would it be to install?

Not too bad of a price, but it may or may not fit. The 8.25 came in 2 different spline counts, so you would want to confirm this before buying.

It's a good limited slip, but has clutch packs that can wear over time. They may or may not need replaced after you buy this.

The trac-loc replaces the entire diff carrier, so the ring and pinion tolerances will need to be set back up.

Well then I'll pass on it. Probably not worth it to get a used one. I think i would prefer one of the lockers that had the easy install so I could do it myself anyhow. FYI - I looked up the part # and it is for the 29 spline unit. They also make it for a 27 spline. I don't know which one is under my Jeep.

You should have the 29spline 8.25" axle.

You should do fine with a Lockright or NoSlip, but I've seen the Traclocs do well in XJ's with up to 33" tires. Anything larger seems to be too much for the limited slip to lock up.
