Tow Chains & Clevis

Where is a good place to buy tow chains and a clevis? I wanted one or two for using a Hi Lift Jack or connecting my recovery strap to another vehicle.[addsig]

DON"T buy chains!!! If for some reason the chain should break while yanking someone out, then you just turned that chain into a deadly weapon, and someone will get hurt from flying chain links.

Your best bet is to get a tow strap "without" hooks. They do a better job of yanking someone out, cause they act like a rubberband, and if it does break, it's not gonna take out a windshield, or injure anyone.[addsig]

Thanks for the advice. I have a nice recovery strap (with loops). I was just wanting to get a short length of chain in case I needed to tow/pull someone who did not have hooks/d-rings/shackles. I do not like to wrap my strap around a frame because is can damage the frame. A strap is also no good when using a Hi Lift jack to pull yourself out.[addsig]

If I can ever get my camera program to work, I´ll send you a picture of my hood and roof. I´ve got about a dozen pock marks in the hood and almost as many on the roof of my Chev. pickup. Don´t know how the chain missed the windshield, but glad it did. Think I´m gonna retire the old chain. Glad for once my son listened, and stood well back when I was pulling a car out of the ditch.[addsig]
