Top Cleaning

Just got a used '97 Wrangler. The soft top is in very good condition, but dirty. Would it be okay to scrub it with Westley's Bleach White? Anybody else ever used it on the top?
Thanks.

I have never used Westley's Bleach White on my top. Don't remember who makes it, but there is a convertable top cleaner you can buy at the parts store!
WELCOME TO JEEPZ!!!!

Are you trying to clean the top or the windows?

I've just used regular dishwashing soap and water on the top, along with a soft brush. Just make sure you don't scrub the windows - especially with a brush (I've got scratches on mine from the u-wash-it place).

unless your top is white, I would not use that product. I think it was initially designed to clean and bleech the white walls on tires.

using bleach/or bleach white will eat threads holding top together use pomolive dish soap and a nice stiff horse hair brush rinse off with a car wash preasure washer to help bring out the deep down dirt and grim as for plastic windows dish soap on a soft cotton rag works best rinse and after first cleaning go back over it with mean green and a soft brush will kill any mold in top fibers rinse just dont use it on plastic windows will turn them white or yellowish dry all plastic windows when finished

Thanks. I have used Westley's on the gray cladding on both Sport Tracs I've owned, as well as assorted floor mats and spot cleaning, etc. without incident but I wasn't sure if it would be okay to use on the Jeep's top. The top is in excellent condition but suffers from some long-term dirt buildup. The windows are in pretty good shape but I got some Meguier's Plast-X to spiff them up. It says you can use it on convertible top windows. Now if it would ever quit raining, I can get some of this stuff done.

Got some convertible top cleaner at Auto Zone after work and scrubbed it good with that. Did hit a small dirty spot with Westley's, so far it looks the same. We'll see tomorrow when it dries fully. The top does look somewhat cleaner. The Meguier's Plast-X did get a bunch of residue off the windows and onto the applicator and the windows look shinier and feel smoother. I'll do the inside tomorrow.
