TJ water leak problem??????

My girlfriend just got a 01 Sahara with a hardtop and the carpet keeps getting wet in the back by the tailgate. I tried suggesting take the carpet out and she doesn't like that answer, so I was wandering if anyone else has run across this problem and if you have what took care of the problem.

Is the seal in good shape at the bottom of the rear hardtop window at the door? Check that out first.

check the rubber around the edges. I know on my hardtop the it's starting to get a little worn from taking it off and storing it each year.

my TJ leaks on both front floorboards (more on passenger).. I just take the mats out till its dry and then slap em back in... then wait for it to rain again...

Its a routine now... smells great too...

I think I might have figured out the problem today. The sparetire I believe was at one point hit buy something and pushed the tailgate. I think the tailgate was replaced and the new one was not making contact with the seal all the way especially in the center. I got someof that door edging stuff from a friend who owns a body shop and he thought that that would take care of it. I will let you all know how it turns out and thanks for all the great thoughts

there is a line that runs washer fluid to the back window on a hard top that disconects in the very back. i took my hard top off once and the fluid all driped out onto the carpet cuz i forgot to plug it up. check and make sure that line is completely connected or not cracked. it also has a little plug to put in it when you take the top off.
