Tips, help: Trans. fluid change out...

Would like to change out my Trans. fluid. I think I did this about a hundred years ago. All I remember is that the Trans. pan doesn't have a drain plug, and I'm not even sure about that. Also, I think it uses ATF+4.

Can anyone offer any tips, how to's, or anything that might help with this project, ie. how many quarts; torque converter to drain, pan filter ... ?

Thanks.

You likely have a list of recommended fluids in your owners manual, those fluids are unlikely to cause any grief, the transmission was designed to work well with them.
I pull the drain plug every year (in my XJ AW4) and replace whatever comes out, you never get it all, the torque converter holds a lot of fluid. Even if you do run it for 15 seconds or so with the drain plug out. I figure every 2-3 years I change out most of the fluid this way.
I tend to favor the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy. There is always the chance when removing the pan or during cleaning, some gunk or junk is going to find it's way into the valve body and cause grief.

Figures, I guess the only alternative is to drop the pan. You may want to check out the filter anyway.
Or maybe go to one of those places that pump the fluid out of the dipstick/and fill tube.
If it has the original fluid in it, Chrysler says it's Ok to mix later (ATF 4) fluids with older fluids, but not the other way around.
I don't know why I figured the early ZJ's used the AW4 transmission, just some wrong info I guess.
