I'm doing a rebuild on a Amc 360 and im doing the tear down.Ive came to a stopping point because I cant figure out how to remove the camshaft, timing chain and I forgot what its called but its the big thing that turns the pistons (maybe someone could help me out with the name of this thing too). how do I remove them?

After all these years I haven’t done it myself but the book says there is a camshaft sprocket retaining bolt to remove. This assumes you have gotten the crankshaft vibration damper and the oil pump/timing cover off and have pulled the heads, push rods, and lifters. I would put a long bolt in the hole in the front of the cam to give you something to grab on to and pull it out.

ya I finally got it. they were just a lil stuck that's why I couldn't figure it out.

After you remove all the lifters and the timing chain sprockets and chain, the camshaft should just pull out. When you remove the camshaft sprocket bolt, the crankshaft sproket is on a keyway to the crank. Dont loose that key while you pull out both the cam and crank sprockets evenly. Take your time pulling the camshaft out by using a long bolt threaded on the camshaft sprocket hole so you can use that as a handle. Avoid banging the cam shaft on the bearings. The crankshaft main bearing caps and rod caps must be removed to get the crankshaft out. Take note of the positions and orientations of the bearings and thrust bearings and make a note of that. It's very important that the new one's goes in the same way.
