time for a new engine

Anyone do a V-6 engine swap on an '80 model cj5. i swapped from a 350 back to the original 2.5 GM for mpg reasons, but i need to find a happy hp/mpg medium such as a v-6 buick dauntless or a chevy version v-6. Also how big a headache is it to upgrade a cj5 with no electornics to TBI/TPI if i go to a newer motor?

I know that many have done the 4.3 Vortec swap. It's a good engine and there are many adapters and conversion kits available for it.

There are companies and electrical shops that can make stand-alone wiring harnesses to run the FI on an older jeep.

I'd recommend the 4.3L vortec by GM.

The 4.3 will be far better than the dauntless. You will need the complete engine with computer, exhaust manifolds and all the bolt ons. If you can get the factory harness then it can be modified, otherwise you can buy one.
You will need to look at options for mounting to your transmission or swapping it out. Advance Adapter is a great source of information for these swaps
